Yes. Ordit's riders are self-employed and need proof of the right to work self-employed in the UK. What is different from an open gig app is the work itself: you ride for Ordit, slots are booked in advance rather than chased, and there is an operations team on the other end of the phone.

Ordit pays for the time you are on a booked slot and a fee for each delivery on top. Waiting for the first order of a rostered slot is paid, up to a limit. Long gaps between jobs are not paid. Every slot is itemised, and you can ask the operations team for a plain-English breakdown of any day you have worked.

There are two peaks: around midday, and a considerably busier one in the early evening. Most slots run between one and two hours. The earliest start on the current roster is 11:15 and the latest finish is 21:00.

Motorbikes and mopeds, bicycles and e-bikes, and cars are all on the fleet, and you supply the vehicle. Most Ordit riders are on a motorbike; bikes suit the shorter central runs, where they are quicker through traffic and cost less to run.

Central London: the City, Canary Wharf and the West End. Each slot starts from a zone, currently around Liverpool Street or Canary Wharf, and runs stay within a couple of kilometres of it. Deliveries go to office receptions and drop-off points, mostly the same buildings week to week.
